Educational Benefits Application

All students may receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day through Minnesota’s Free School Meals Program.

Families should still complete an Educational Benefits Application each school year. The application may help your family qualify for reduced fees and other benefits. Completed applications also help White Bear Lake Area Schools receive funding for student programs and services.

How to Apply

Complete one application for all children in your household who attend White Bear Lake Area Schools. The information you provide is private and used only to determine eligibility.

  1. Complete the application online through SchoolCafé.
  2. Request a paper application from your student’s school or the District Center at Sunrise Park. You may also request an application by emailing nutritionservices@isd624.org or calling 651-407-7515.

Who Should Complete an Application?

All families are encouraged to complete an application each school year, especially if:

  • Your household income has changed.
  • Someone in your household has lost a job or experienced a reduction in work hours.
  • Your household receives Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) benefits.
  • A child in your household is in foster care or participates in a qualifying assistance program.
  • You believe your household may qualify based on its size and income.

Families may apply at any time during the school year if their circumstances change.

Benefits for Your Family

Qualifying through the Educational Benefits Application may give your family access to:

  • Reduced athletics and activity fees
  • Reduced Advanced Placement exam fees
  • College application fee waivers
  • Reduced driver’s education fees
  • Discounted internet access
  • Other reduced fees and educational benefits

Completed applications also help determine the state and federal funding available for student programs and services throughout White Bear Lake Area Schools.

Free or Low-Cost Health Care for Children

Your child may also qualify for free or low-cost health, dental and vision coverage through Minnesota Health Care Programs.
