The White Bear Lake Area School Board recently received the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
GFOA Director Michele Mark Levine indicates “The Certificate of Achievement is the highest recognition in government accounting and financial reporting is the highest recognition in governmental reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government (agency) and its management.”
To be considered for the award, the finance department submitted its comprehensive annual financial report for review by a team of professional auditors who reviewed the report and found it met the requirements for their highest recognition.
The recognition was presented to the School Board on June 10, 2019.
The White Bear Lake Area School Board recently received an Excellence in Financial Reporting Award from the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) for its financial reporting for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2018.
As noted by Siobhan McMahon, Chief Operating Officer of ASBO, “This award represents a significant achievement and reflects your commitment to transparency and high-quality financial reporting.” Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations Tim Wald noted “from the School Board to the Superintendent and throughout the Finance Department a high priority is placed on transparency and accountability. This has been our history for nearly 20 years.”
The White Bear Lake Area Schools have a long history of financial accountability, as this is the 19th consecutive year the school district has been recognized with the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting.
