The White Bear Lake Area Schools has been awarded the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.

GFOA Director Michele Mark Levine indicates  “The Certificate of Achievement is the highest recognition in government accounting and financial reporting is the highest recognition in governmental reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government (agency) and its management.”

To be considered for the award, the finance department submitted its comprehensive annual financial report for review by a team of professional auditors who reviewed the report and found it met the requirements for their highest recognition.

The White Bear Lake Area Schools has been awarded the  Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting Award from the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO).

As noted by David J. Lewis, Executive Director of ASBO, “This award represents a significant achievement and reflects your commitment to transparency and high-quality financial reporting.”  WBLAS Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations Tim Wald noted “a high priority is placed on transparency and accountability, from the School Board to the Superintendent and throughout the finance department. The importance we place on transparency is evidenced by the District receiving the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for more than 20 years.”
