Superintendent

Dr. Kazmierczak currently serves as the Superintendent for White Bear Lake Area Schools (WBLAS), overseeing a comprehensive education system that includes nine elementary schools, two middle schools, a high school, an area learning center, a transition education center, an early childhood program, and a senior center. With a career spanning over three decades, he has held various leadership roles, including high school teacher, coach, and Superintendent of Lakeview Public Schools and Assistant Superintendent of Moorhead Area Public Schools.

Before assuming the role of Superintendent for WBLAS in 2017, he served as the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations. He is responsible for managing the district's nearly 9,000 students and 1,000+ employees, as well as a general fund budget of more than $140 million. Dr. Kazmierczak also collaborates closely with the ten municipalities within the District boundaries.

Under his leadership, the district has undertaken significant initiatives, including district and school-level strategic planning, extensive facilities planning, district-wide renovation and construction projects, attendance boundary adjustments, and changed school start times. He has also been instrumental in securing community support for critical funding initiatives, such as the 2017 operating levy renewal, the 2019 bond referendum, and the 2022 capital projects levy.

Dr. K is committed to fostering strong connections with students, families, and the community. He regularly engages with community members through informal "Coffee with Dr. K" events.

In recognition of his exceptional leadership, Dr. Kazmierczak was named the 2021 Superintendent of the Year by the Minnesota Association of School Administrators. He was selected for this honor by a panel of representatives from a variety of Minnesota education organizations. This prestigious honor highlights his dedication to student success, his ability to build strong relationships, and his commitment to educational excellence.
