It's time once again to celebrate professional excellence as part of the White Bear Lake Area Educators’ Teacher of the Year program. The process begins with nominations from community members, parents, students and colleagues. Please take the time to nominate an exceptional teacher who goes above and beyond and who makes White Bear Lake Area Schools a great place to send our students every day.

Nominations are open until 4 p.m. on Monday, February 9th, 2026.

The high school’s fall musical, “Cinderella,” recently heard word that they received multiple accolades through the Hennepin Arts Spotlight Awards program. As part of that recognition, the cast and members of the crew and pit orchestra will have the opportunity to perform on the State Theatre stage in June.

Otter Lake Elementary Principal Ang Nelson was recently honored with the East Suburban Division Leadership Award by Minnesota Elementary School Principals’ Association.

Bear Boards and More is now taking orders! The student-operated business based at the Transition Education Center, specializes in customized cutting boards and tumblers.

At the November 10, 2025 Regular School Board Meeting, the White Bear Lake Area School Board approved the following calendars:

If winter weather is so severe that schools need to close, families will be alerted via phone, email and text to those with texting capabilities. The message will be posted on the district's website and social media accounts, and the information will also be available on local media outlets.

White Bear Lake Area Schools is pleased to announce that Tonya Flower has been selected to serve as the district’s new American Indian Education Program Coordinator.

White Bear Lake Area Schools has once again earned top honors for financial reporting, marking the 25th consecutive year the district has received both the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting and the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting.

White Bear Lake Area High School is proud to announce that Brigadier General (Ret.) Bryan John Hult, Class of 1974 Mariner Campus, and Dr. Paul Anthony Iaizzo, Class of 1974 (Mariner Campus), have been selected as a 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients. They will be formally recognized before the Homecoming football game on Friday, September 26, 2025.

At the September Regular School Board Meeting, the School Board welcomed the 2025-26 School Board Student Representatives: WBLAHS senior Thomas Reese and Alternate Student Representative WBLAHS junior Lillian Johnson.

Otter Lake Elementary and Mariner Middle School are among just 13 schools statewide to be recognized as 2025-26 Minnesota Schools of Excellence by the Minnesota Elementary School Principals’ Association. White Bear Lake Area Schools is the only district in Minnesota to have more than one school earn this prestigious honor this year.

Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCA) results for reading and math were released this week, with White Bear Lake Area Schools once again outperforming statewide averages. While the state’s proficiency levels remain steady, White Bear students continue to show growth in both subjects.

White Bear Lake Area Schools is pleased to announce the selection of Jen Sexauer as the next principal of Willow Lane Elementary. She comes to White Bear from Lincoln Center Elementary, where she has served as assistant principal since 2023.
