Corey Larson Welcomed as New Head Coach of the WBLAHS Boys' Cross Country Team

White Bear Lake Area High School is proud to announce the hiring of Corey Larson as the new Head Coach of the Boys' Cross Country Team.

Larson brings a strong combination of personal running experience, coaching expertise, and a decade of service in education to the program. A native of Rochester, Minnesota, Larson attended John Marshall High School, where he competed in cross country and track and field. He continued his running journey in college, completing three half marathons during his time as a student.

Larson earned his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Winona State University and has dedicated the past 10 years to the field of education. Over the last five years, he has steadily built an impressive coaching résumé.

His coaching experience includes serving as a Coaching Intern at John Marshall in 2015, followed by two seasons (2019 and 2021) as an assistant coach at Bellevue High School. Most recently, Larson has been deeply involved in the White Bear cross country community, serving as an assistant coach at the district’s middle schools in 2024 and as an assistant coach at the high school during the 2025-26 season.

Larson expressed enthusiasm about stepping into the head coaching role.

“I am most excited about our community and look forward to continuing to establish a supportive and fun environment for our runners,” Larson said. “I am excited to see growth in our team—not only as athletes, but as individuals.”

School administrators are confident that Larson’s commitment to student development, positive team culture, and competitive excellence will continue to strengthen the boys' cross country program for years to come.
