Director of Technology and Innovation named

The White Bear Lake Area School District is pleased to announce that Susan Herder has been chosen to serve as the district’s Director of Technology and Innovation. She will begin her new role on July 29.

Herder has served for more than a decade as the Instructional Technology Coordinator at Mounds View Public Schools, managing the district's institutional technology and serving as a liaison to the Curriculum Department. She has also had a supportive role related to Minnesota state reporting and the development, implementation and achievement of district and department goals.

Prior to her current role, Herder served as a middle school math and science resource teacher in Mounds View. She planned and led content, curriculum adoption and technology integration professional development for all middle school and math teachers. She began her career in Mounds View teaching life science and earth science while also serving as a teacher leader coaching colleagues in effective strategies and data-driven decision making.

“Susan brings an incredible wealth of experience and passion to our work,” said Superintendent Wayne Kazmierczak. “We are excited to welcome her to our team as we transform learning and offer students opportunities for communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking.”
