Congratulations Bears!

White Bear students who have completed programs at Transition Education Center, Area Learning Center and White Bear Lake Area High School were celebrated last week in ceremonies. Congratulations to these students as they embark on their next journey as graduates, and Go Bears! Watch snippets from each ceremony in this video issue of "The Week in 62.4 Seconds".

Before crossing the graduation stage, members of the class of 2026 visited their former elementary schools in their caps and gowns for the senior walkthrough event. The excitement was highlighted in a recent video issue of "The Week in 62.4 Seconds". Graduates connected with their former teachers while being congratulated by current elementary school students. Many seniors also took part in friendly games of kickball with the elementary students. 

Our seniors were not the only students celebrated at the conclusion of the 2025-26 school year. Fifth graders across the district were honored by fellow classmates, staff and their families during ceremonies recognizing the completion of their elementary education, as well as their D.A.R.E. programing, as they now prepare to enter middle school this fall.

Community Collaboration

Willow Lane Elementary students are celebrating the end of an educational collaboration. Throughout the school year, students were paired up with a community volunteer who took time to read with them through the Reading Buddies Program. To show their appreciation, students held a Gratitude Gathering, where they gave thank you cards to their Reading Buddy and enjoyed breakfast together. The event was captured in a recent video issue of "The Week in 62.4 Seconds".

Fifth graders at Matoska are finalizing Exhibition Projects - a capstone assignment focused on our International Bachelorette programming. Working closely with adult and high school mentors, students selected a topic or cause of interest, conducted research and created action steps to make an impact personally, locally or globally. See their projects come to life in a recent video issue of "The Week in 62.4 Seconds".

Middle schoolers across the district took part in the Latinos Unidos Middle School Leadership Conference. The event was organized and led by high school students. Middle School students listened to the older students share stories, played games, held group discussions and reflected on important topics. 

Students at Otter Lake Elementary organized a Day of Service event before the school year ended. They signed up to work on different projects benefiting not only their school but local organizations. Some of the projects included repacking diapers for the White Bear Lake Area Food shelf, making cards for kids in the hospital, creating tie blankets and so much! 

Outstanding Accomplishments

The White Bear Press recently highlighted the White Bear Lake Area High School Girls' Flag Football Team. The team qualified for the State tournament after taking home the District 3 championship. The State tournament begins June 8 at TCO Stadium.

Maddie Vang and Adelle Blasing of the WBLAHS Girls' Golf Team and Easton Fiddle of the Boys' Golf Team are competing in the State tournament June 9-10 at Bunker Hills Golf Club. Both teams earned a third place finish overall during their respective Section 4AAA competitions.

Multiple members of the WBLHAS Girls' and Boy's Track and Field teams competed in the State tournament this pas weekend at St. Michael-Albertville High School. The Sports Briefs section of the White Bear Press included write-ups about both teams. The Bears hosted the Section 4AAA competition where each team finished in second place.

The White Bear Lake Area Educational Foundation presented its 2026 Lynn Mielke Distinguished Educator Award to Becky Butters-Levahn, Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) teacher at Lincoln Elementary. Through her compassion, advocacy, and commitment to student success, Becky has made a lasting impact on students, families, and the entire Lincoln Elementary community. Innovative Lessons

Central Middle School students turned their math lessons into hands-on learning! Geometry students made inflatable objects! Using only a certain amount of tape and material, students worked in groups to calculate and cut accordingly to form their 3D shapes which included a stick figure, couch, house and more. Students also designed carnival style games based on their statistics unit. Using probability and strategy, they tried to win each game earning tickets and prizes. North Star Elementary fifth graders hosted a Living History Museum for students, staff and family members. Students chose to research an historical figure or someone from the present that has had an impact or legacy in our world. Students compiled their findings to create display boards and delivered speeches and facts about their person to those who visited the museum. They even dressed like the person they learned about!

Enjoying the Outdoors

Elementary students across the district enjoyed Field Day activities this week! Students took part in a variety of active challenges with their classmates, including races, fun games, crafts, and so much more!  Check out the excitement in this video issue of "The Week in 62.4 Seconds".

Students at Vadnais Heights Elementary laced up their shoes and headed outside for their last Run Club activity of the school year! The group meets rain or shine. Students run or walk quarter mile laps with friends receiving stamps to help track their distance as they challenge themselves to collect more each session. Over 140 students and several staff members are members of Run Club, which started in 2016.

 Activities Updates

The Girls' Flag Football Team qualified for the State tournament after winning the District 3 game. Several members of the Girls' and Boys' Track and Field Team competed at the State meet this past weekend. Two members of the Girls' Golf Team and one member of the Boys' Golf Team qualified for the State tournament and will be playing at Bunker Hills Golf Course June 9-10. Congratulations to Boys' Baseball Team members who were recently recognized for conference honors: All Conference - Riley Helmberger and Jackson Kolb. All Conference Honorable Mention - Max Butters, Will Connors, Jack Kook, Miles Oklobzija and Joey Setter.

Senior community members (age 65+) who live in the District are invited to participate in the Senior Activities Pass program and enjoy complimentary admission to most school activities.
