Homelessness is defined by the McKinneyVento Act as a student lacking a fixed, adequate night-time residence.
  • Educational Rights:
    • Maintain attendance in the school of origin when feasible or enroll where they are currently residing
    • Immediate enrollment
    • Free breakfast/lunch program
    • Transportation when determined to be appropriate
  • Homeless Students live in any of these conditions:
    • Shelter
    • Unaccompanied youth not in the care of a legal guardian
    • Motel/Hotel
    • Street, tents, garages
    • Temporarily doubled up with another family due to domestic violence or economic hardship
