Kindergarten
WBL Transportation offers school bus service to kindergarten students residing over one half mile from their assigned school. The following information pertains to kindergarten transportation:
  • Each school year new kindergarten students are provided the opportunity for a practice bus ride during Kindergarten Orientation. Parents are asked to accompany each student on this ride and are encouraged to ask questions regarding bus safety. Please contact your local school for dates and times of the kindergarten orientation.
  • Kindergarten students are generally assigned seats in the front of the bus away from the hustle and bustle of older students. Should problems arise with the students the driver is close at hand.
  • Bus schedules are mailed to all kindergarten students approximately two weeks before the start of school. Schedules include bus number, bus stop, and times. If you do not receive a postcard prior to one week before the first day of school, please call the transportation office at 651-407-7538.

Special Education
Special needs students are assigned transportation on an as needed basis. All students not otherwise capable of utilizing regular transportation services, and whose IEP (Individual Education Plan) indicates a need for special bussing, will be provided with transportation resources tailored to the individual needs of the student.

Special needs transportation is generally a curb-to-curb service utilizing specialized vehicles. These vehicles are generally smaller than the conventional school bus and contain such equipment as wheel chair lifts, additional restraint systems, and lower step heights. All special needs school buses are ADA (American Disabilities Act) compliant.

The Special Services Department works with individual families to determine who qualifies for Special Services Transportation, please contact them at 651-407-7553 if you have questions regarding eligibility. After Special Services determines your child does qualify for transportation on a special needs school bus, the information is given to the transportation office. Please allow 3-4 days for the transportation department to arrange services.

For specific information regarding special needs transportation routes, please contact Julie Dwyer at 651-653-2737.
