Otter Lake's mission and philosophy places the child at the center of all that takes place at the school. This belief, conceived by staff, parents and administration in 1988, prior to the opening of Otter Lake Elementary, continues to guide the school's program. Because of this, all efforts are directed to making the child successful as an individual in all ways. With a highly trained staff committed to this philosophy, Otter Lake Elementary strives to meet each child's needs in a pleasant, safe environment, which promotes high standards and achievement by all. We want our students to be effective learners as well as responsible citizens.
We are pleased that you are a member of our school community. As a parent, you are an essential link in your child's education. This web site will serve as a part of our communications network along with scheduled conferences, newsletters, report card, individual notes, e-mail, and phone calls. All the procedures assist us in providing maximum benefits for your child's educational program. We encourage you to contact us when concerns or questions arise.
School office telephone hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. The (651) 653-2831 phones will generally be covered during that period. At 4:00 p.m., the office phone will transfer to voice messaging. To report absences, please call the school attendance line at (651) 653-2832 before 9:15 a.m.
You are invited and encouraged to become an active participant at Otter Lake. Opportunities for involvement abound. Our parent organization, Otter Lake Parent Teacher Association (PTA), meets monthly. This wonderful organization provides time and funding to enhance the learning opportunities for all of our students.
Children are our most precious resource. Each is a unique and wonderful person! As parents and educators, our examples and attitudes concerning education will be reflected by our students. It is so important to show a genuine interest in all that they do and accomplish. Let's all work together to make your child's years in school a positive experience. The staff and I look forward to this cooperative, educational adventure.
